Parent Accounts and Customer Accounts

The Brightspeed Business Hub refers to two distinct types of Accounts: the Parent Account and Customer Account(s).

The Parent Account is the overarching corporate account number, assigned by Brightspeed, which Customer Accounts are assigned and can be one or many different sites/locations.

These Customer Accounts may indicate different locations, subsidiaries, or entities under the same corporate umbrella, depending on how they were set up when the Parent Account joined Brightspeed.

User Types

The Brightspeed Business Hub uses two User Types: Customer Administrator and Standard User.

Customer Administrators are authorized to represent their company and have the authority to add or update new users n the Brightspeed Business Hub.

The Customer Administrator is assigned a valid Parent Account and only has access to all Customer Accounts linked to the Parent Account. If the Parent Account has three Customer Accounts, the Customer Administrator will have access to four accounts (one Parent Account and three Customer Accounts).

Important: The original Customer Administrator (adding the new user) only has access to the Parent Account (and all linked Customer Accounts), so he/she can only assign the Parent Account to a new Customer Administrator or one or more Customer Accounts to a new Standard User.

Standard Users are typically assigned one (or more) Customer Accounts, and they can only view services and billing information for the Customer Accounts they have been granted permission to view.

Note: Standard Users are unable to change their own permissions.

Note: Both Customer Administrators and Standard Users can only view or change accounts (Parent or Customer Account) assigned to them.
