Company continues to invest in Springfield, MO, commits to long-term partnership with Springfield-Greene County Park Board
Charlotte, N.C. – August 29, 2024 – Brightspeed, one of the nation’s largest fiber broadband builders, is thrilled to announce the execution of its ten-year sponsorship agreement with the Springfield-Greene County Park Board to change Jordan Valley Ice Park to Brightspeed Ice Park.
Through this long-term commitment, Brightspeed aims to support the Park Board's mission of offering Springfield residents and visitors high-quality recreational facilities, thereby promoting health, social engagement, and economic vitality in the area. The partnership is only a piece of Brightspeed’s larger endeavor to enhance essential resources for families and local business owners in the Springfield area through high-speed fiber internet. Brightspeed works with City Utilities of Springfield to lease its fiber network and build system drops to all homes and businesses that request reliable, high-speed internet service.
“Brightspeed Ice Park will continue to be a place where families and individuals can come together, stay active, and create lasting memories,” says Tali Kulbeda, head of local marketing at Brightspeed. “Brightspeed’s sponsorship demonstrates our long-term dedication to the Springfield community, and we are proud to contribute to the positive impact on the quality of life for all in Springfield. We look forward to seeing the continued success and enjoyment that this facility brings to the community.”
Missouri currently ranks 43rd in the nation for internet coverage, speed and availability according to BroadbandNow. This paints a challenging picture for those who need high-speed internet to look for employment, work remotely, write a school paper, or use telehealth. Put simply, high-speed internet equals opportunity, which is why Brightspeed is committed to investing in the Springfield community.
“It’s very exciting to announce our partnership with Brightspeed, which brings the new name of Brightspeed Ice Park and new investment in Parks operations,” said Jenny Fillmer Edwards, public information administrator for the Springfield-Greene County Park Board. “This partnership aligns with the Park Board’s mission of providing the very best in park facilities, programs and events, both inside Brightspeed Ice Park and throughout our community. We look forward to a fresh new look for Brightspeed Ice Park this fall and a series of events celebrating the new name, followed by many years of active collaboration.”
