Signing up for the country’s fastest internet service* is as easy as answering a knock at the door; company representatives are in neighborhoods sharing service plan details

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — March 4, 2026Brightspeed, the nation’s third-largest fiber broadband builder, has completed construction of its fiber network in more than a dozen communities in Alabama’s Wiregrass region, including Abbeville, Ariton, Columbia, Daleville, Dothan, Elba, Enterprise, Hartford, Headland, New Brockton, Newton, Samson and Slocumb. Now, more than 67,000 homes and businesses in those communities have access to the country’s fastest internet service.*

Connecting with the community door to door

With construction complete, Brightspeed is shifting its focus to helping residents and businesses get connected. As part of its community first, customer-friendly approach, Brightspeed representatives are going door to door in Abbeville, Ariton, Dothan and Elba sharing information about new multi-gig-speed fiber services. Residents can expect:

  • Who: Friendly, fully trained sales representatives wearing Brightspeed-branded apparel.
  • What: Information about Brightspeed’s fiber internet service, plan options and benefits.
  • Why: To help bridge the digital divide by expanding access to fast, affordable, and reliable internet in areas where quality options have historically been limited.

“Completing our fiber build in the Wiregrass is a major milestone, but the real impact happens when families and small businesses experience the difference for themselves,” said Tshacha Romeo, director, sales channel at Brightspeed. “By connecting with residents door to door, we’re making it easy to understand the benefits of fiber, from seamless streaming and remote work to telehealth and online learning. We’re proud to invest in these communities and deliver the connectivity they deserve.”

Leveraging state and federal investments

Brightspeed’s expansion in Alabama is supported by both private investment and public funding partnerships. The company recently announced that Alabama awarded Brightspeed more than $14.3 million in federal Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) program funding** to augment its private investment in building its fiber network to reach another 4,407 locations in the state.

Additionally, Alabama awarded Brightspeed more than $597,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to give 945 Alabamans access to high-speed connectivity they don’t have today.

Once construction is complete, Brightspeed Fiber Internet will reach nearly 247,000 homes and businesses statewide.
