Thousands of homes and businesses now connected as high-speed fiber expansion enters final phase

HUMBLE, TX — April 16, 2026 — One year after announcing its investment in Humble, Brightspeed, the nation’s third-largest fiber builder, is celebrating significant progress as construction of its state-of-the-art, high-speed fiber internet network nears completion.

To date, Brightspeed Fiber Internet is now available to more than 42,000 Harris County homes and businesses. Once construction is complete, nearly 46,000 locations across the community will have access to fast, reliable fiber connectivity.

“Over the past year, we’ve seen firsthand how reliable, high-speed fiber internet can transform a small town like ours,” said Humble Mayor Norman Funderburk. “It’s not just about faster connections, it’s about new opportunities for our local businesses, better access to education and healthcare and the ability to keep our community connected to the world.”

Since breaking ground in April 2025, Brightspeed has worked closely with local leaders and community stakeholders to expand broadband access and minimize construction impacts. The nearly completed network represents a major step in ensuring residents have access to the bandwidth required for remote work, online learning, telehealth, business and economic development.

For local residents and business owners, the impact is being felt.

“As a Brightspeed Fiber Internet customer, the difference has been pivotal in running my business successfully,” said Darian Ortiz, owner of The Rowdy Chick Boutique in downtown Humble. Our internet is faster and more reliable than ever, which has made running my day-to-day operations so much easier. It’s been a game-changer for my business.”

In Texas, many communities still lack access to fiber broadband, limiting opportunities for growth and innovation. Brightspeed’s investment in Harris County reflects its broader commitment to expanding connectivity in unserved and underserved areas across its footprint.
