  Wholesale  Local Interconnection Service

Bundled trunk-side
service with switching
and transport

Local Interconnection Service has never been easier. Brightspeed’s proven processes, procedures and experienced customer service professionals help you get the prompt certification from state PUC officials that you need. In addition, they can help you deal with the acquisition of things such as Numeric Numbering Plans for areas where you provide Exchange Service. For many wholesale customers, Brightspeed’s Local Interconnection Services have become the foundational technology you need to begin expanding your service mix.

Benefits

Reliable
Traffic
Exchange

Brightspeed’s LIS product enables you to reach other carriers efficiently. LIS provides all the components for complete connectivity between your chosen connection point and Brightspeed’s advanced telecommunications network. You can count on fast, reliable and high-quality switching and transport of calls within Brightspeed’s local calling area or extended area service boundary.

Flexible
Connection
Options

Brightspeed offers a variety of options for establishing a Point of Interaction (POI) to connect your network. These include Physical and Virtual Colocation, LIS Entrance Facility, and LIS Mid Span Fiber Meet. The goal is to provide you with the options that best fit your needs and minimize costs for you and your customers.

Professional
Certification Assistance

Although some companies describe Unbundled Network Elements as interconnection, it’s important to understand the differences. The big difference? Intercarrier compensation applies to LIS but not to UNEs. You must obtain certification from your state’s Public Utilities Commission to provide Exchange Access services. Brightspeed customer Service professionals can help you navigate the certification process.

Features
and specs

  • Physical colocation is a popular and cost-effective option that extend your facilities into our Serving Wire Center and have a point of interface within the Brightspeed facility.
  • Virtual colocation, another popular and cost-effective option, enables you to extend your facilities to a point just outside our Serving Wire Center (SWC). Brightspeed provides the link to bring you into the facility which then becomes your point of interconnection.
  • With the LIS Entrance Facility, Brightspeed provides the transport between your physical location and our SWC nearest to your chosen point of interconnection. This option may be requested with both digital signal level 1 or digital signal level 3 formats.
  • LIS mid span fiber meet provides a negotiated point of interface which is limited to the interconnection of facilities between our SWC and the location of your switch. The actual physical point of interface and the fiber facilities is subject to negotiations with Brightspeed and you.
  • There are several different billable elements for LIS depending on the interconnection options. Be sure to consult with your customer service representative to learn more about the most cost-effective option for you.
  • Certification required from state PUCs prior to purchase.
  • Numbering Plan Area (NAP) and Numeric Numbering Plan (NXX) required in each Local Access and Transportation Area (LATA) where you provide local exchange service.
